For this, existing spaces of centrality are reconsidered, a new fourth central space of reference is created and pedestrian routes within the town are reviewed. The project divides the river walk into three independent sections. On the first phase it is committed to create a square-walk that generates a complementary centrality in relation to the uses and activities in the old town area by adapting existing terraces. The adopted solution articulates the different spaces through ramps that allow a friendly and accessible walk from the Pietat to the centre. Associated to these, rest areas and play areas are created in a compatible manner with anthropogenic and natural dynamics of the Riverside. | Burgos Avenue renovation with Metrópolis 08 2006 Mollet del Vallès, Barcelona | Renovation of the Alameda de Hércules with Martínez Lapeña-Torres architects Public space 9.716.839€ Size: 37.707sqm Developer: Sevilla City Council Plan Office 2005 Sevilla, Sevilla | The Alameda de Hercules, a space that had been relegated to parking of vehicles, is now put in value and regenerated as a great relationship public space. The proposal plants 360 new trees to accentuate the promenade between the two pairs of columns. The vehicular traffic is reduced to prioritize pedestrian use and terraces of the bars. The floor is cobbled, and a gently topography is created in order to emerge the columns that were left in a ditch. The gentle slopes improve vision of outdoor shows. The two existing kiosks are accompanied by others of the same kinship with new pergolas on concrete that allow temporary uses in the shade. Three new fonts are also added with water spray joints between white and blue tiles. | Photos © Lourdes Jansana |
