Services and similar uses are grouped together to achieved homes with cross ventilation and with interior terraces that provide comfort and quality. A unique typology guarantees equity between users. Even being small 45sqm typologies, the existence of visual diagonals inside the house increases the sense of spaciousness. | New pedestrian acces to the historic town of Mojacar 2012 Mojácar, Almería | Urban furniture Urdaibai with Pep Boada and Fusteria Gurdó Design 2012 Ría de Urdaibai, Bizcaia | The new furniture line is proposed with a simple and robust design, whith standardized geometries, joints and materials. The aesthetic and technical continuity between all the elements, minimizing the number of materials to three (chestnut wood, hemp rope and galvanized steel) and the choice of renewable natural materials are the premises of the project. The use of sustainable and recyclable materials characteristic of the area cultural heritage (chestnut construction and hemp in fishing gear) and ensurance of durability complements the design and enables optimum integration of all the pieces in the landscape of the Reserve. The proposal represents a saving of 78% KgCO2 emissions relative to an standard line of urban furniture, and photovoltaic streetlight option makes feasible its location in not eletrified areas .|Third prize | Environmental License of the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura del Vallés Management 201.611€ Size: 9.941sqm Developer: Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya 2011 Sant Cugat del Vallès, Barcelona | School of Architecture buiding, designed by the architect Lluís Nadal, needed to be upgraded to the current regulations of accessibility, security and fire. The greater complexity involves to separate the building in 4 fire areas without altering the main structure, circulations and current uses. The aim of the proposal is to adapt the building to the standards with minimal interventions, so that the existing structure retains the characteristics and the relationship between original parts. In this way, it has been possible to maintain the value of courtyards. The renovation operation goes beyond the original request to renew interior finishing and seeks, through a minimal intervention modifying the way of inhabiting the house, bringing new circulations, enabling versatility in the limits of space and giving luminosity to all rooms. | Urban renovation and new centrality around Josep Barangé square Urban planning Size: 15.400sqm Developer: Granollers City Council 2011 Granollers, Barcelona | The project organizes the area through the dialogue with its surrounding. Singularization of space is proposed by the configuration of three different areas: central square, city park and building (equipment + economic activity) that together structure pedestrian routes and provide functionality to the projected area. In contrast to the current situation ground continuity is taken as a basic element of urban space. Volumetry proposed consists of three pieces that allow differentiated approaches from the two facades and ensures that despite being a large building volume is displayed attentive to every of the peculiarities of the surrounding, also facilitating the management, development and flexibility of the futur use. The engagement with the city, and not the building, is the real protagonist. | Detached house extension Woodshed 2011 Beteta, Cuenca | Arbucies riverside walk and playground area Public space 318.036€ Size: 9.472sqm Developer: Arbúcies City Council 2011 Arbúcies, Girona | The proposal seeks the recovery of the central area of the Arbúcies Riverside walk, next to the old town area. For this, existing spaces of centrality are reconsidered, a new fourth central space of reference is created and pedestrian routes within the town are reviewed. The project divides the river walk into three independent sections. On the first phase it is committed to create a square-walk that generates a complementary centrality in relation to the uses and activities in the old town area by adapting existing terraces. The adopted solution articulates the different spaces through ramps that allow a friendly and accessible walk from the Pietat to the centre. Associated to these, rest areas and play areas are created in a compatible manner with anthropogenic and natural dynamics of the Riverside. | Urban Project for ámbito de Levante with CCRS architects Urban planning Dwellings:1825 Size: 592.886sqm Developer: Jaca City Council 2010 Jaca, Huesca | The proposal suggests the extension of the city of Jaca thinking from a triple point of view: The city and its extension: the main aim is to extend the street, overcoming the topographical and urban cut between the historic center and the highlands of the new urban development . The city, the whole and its parts: the chains of different walks equipped with activities structures and organizes the new residential growth; one stair building is the link between the lowest point of the city and the new extension. The identity, structure and skin: against the dispersion that often causes low density, the proposal recovers value of urban street as a reference. The idea of typological cocktail allows building a social mix while prolonging activities that generate urbanity. Its variable geometry is the result of physical adaptation to the plot, ground floor is released for better adaptation to the surroundings, and higher plants are adapted and give value to the neighboring end walls. The project has three areas: The ground floor, the basement and the rest. The ground floor is considered the extension of public-street space, and allows temporary uses and distributes to the rest of plants. The basement is an extension of this program but used as an exhibition hall. The third major area is planned as Civic Center, with fixed activities but which may vary. Antoni Tàpies painting is moved to this room and serves as a backdrop hiding with two large sliding doors back service corridor. The golden roof that gives name to the hall and large stones lamps are wrapped with a golden fabric, limiting the volume and making it more inviting to work in the circular table. The carpet follows the geometric design of the pavement scale. The strategy identifies three scales associated with the three types of project that will build this new center: 1. The district level that provides the infrastructure for accessibility and parking 2. Municipal level associated with the urban project for the construction of collective space and incorporation of new services and architectural typologies integrated into the landscape. 3. Site scale seeks thought the urbanization project a new image and the pedestrianisation of the linear urban space along the road. | Second prize. | Renovation of the Alameda de Hércules with Martínez Lapeña-Torres architects Public space 9.716.839€ Size: 37.707sqm Developer: Sevilla City Council Plan Office 2005 Sevilla, Sevilla | The Alameda de Hercules, a space that had been relegated to parking of vehicles, is now put in value and regenerated as a great relationship public space. The proposal plants 360 new trees to accentuate the promenade between the two pairs of columns. The vehicular traffic is reduced to prioritize pedestrian use and terraces of the bars. The floor is cobbled, and a gently topography is created in order to emerge the columns that were left in a ditch. The gentle slopes improve vision of outdoor shows. The two existing kiosks are accompanied by others of the same kinship with new pergolas on concrete that allow temporary uses in the shade. The singularities of the region made it advisable to write this plan separately but in coordination to later be integrated. The aim of the Master Plan is to ensure the development of the territory in the most efficient and sustainable way, contributing by an overview criteria to combine growth expectations at different levels: human, industrial, urbanistic, infrastructure, etc, with the preservation of the environmental values of the region: natural areas, landscape of vineyards, biological corridors, etc. The structure of the territory is defined from three basic systems: the system of open spaces, the system of urban settlements and infrastructure system. | Final Approval | Extension of the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona with Martínez Lapeña-Torres architects Cultural building 4.346.566€ Size: 3.164sqm Developer: CCCB 2003 Barcelona, Barcelona | CCCB extension occupies part of the cloister of the House of Charity and the ancient theater designed by the architect Josep Goday. The project, while incorporating a new program, wants to evident the architecture of these two eras. To improve the connection with the current CCCB building a new physical connection-passage is constructed under the square as well as a large warehouse is attached. The ground floor lobby organizes access and connections to the passage and to other floors, the mezzanine floor with administration program and the main theater floor. At the entrance from the square volume built is delayed to leave a covered porch access. The difficulty of the site, attached to a gas station, makes the proposal to create their own public space within the site, with terraces on the community access, separating into two the volume built and allowing cross ventilation and lighting in each house. The proposed distribution arises maximum flexibility, there is a base cell to which is added a module that allows an individual home, study, two bedrooms, adapted housing, etc. As housing intended for rent, kitchens and toilets are standardized and great storage space is provided . The underlying theme is aging, the loss of the ability to control what happens to us, the disagreement between the force we have and what our body allows. An eternal problem, and nowadays pathetically visible in all mature men who are thrown at shirt and shorts to run down the street (trying not to be seen by anybody), in order to reassure Malatesta doctor, that has ensure us physical exercise is the key for us to achieve wellness.
